Surajhankar is managed by an Executive Committee, elected for a period of 2 years and also has a board of permanent trustee. The executive committee is responsible for running the organization with the help of Principal. There are a group of qualified faculties for conducting the courses.

Faculties

 Dr. Amit Mitra                                   

Dr Amit Mitra was born in Santiniketan and brought up in an environment rich with Tagore culture. His early education was in Santiniketan, where he had the music lessons from legends like Shri Sailajaranjan Majumdar and Smt Indira Devi Chaudhurani. After matriculation he did B.Sc (Hons in Statistics) from Presidency College and Engineering (Mechanical) in 1958 and Electrical in 1967 both from Jadavpur University. He obtained a degree Gitabharati from Gitabitan, Kolkata in 1960. He obtained PhD in Musicology from Computer Science Deapartment, University of Pune in 2005.

He has been performing in AIR since 1951 and Doordrashan since 1978. He has also performed in many other TV channels. However, his major contribution is teaching of Tagore music since 1960. He has trained a large number of students both in Kolkata & Pune since 1960.

 Dr. Manjusri Dutta Choudhury        

Dr. Manjusri Dutta Choudhury , currently The Principal of the Institute, holds a Ph.D (Biochemistry), from Kolkata University. Before inception of Surajhankar, she has served (1980-1994) as a Research Associate in Univ. of Tennessee, National Chemical Laboratory & Pune University. However, music being her passion, she did Gitabharati in Rabindrasangeet from Gitabitan, Kolkata, in1973. She is one of the founder members of Surajhankar. She guides final year students for Gitabharati Examination, emphasizing on style (gayaki) of singing Rabindrasangeet which she learnt from her teachers (namely late Smt. Kamala Bose) and from Dr. Amit Mitra.

 Smt. Amita Dasgupta                      

Smt Amita Dasgupta has acquired her knowledge on Hindustani Classical Music from the renowned University of Khairagarh. She did her Masters in Music and recipient of Gold Medal. She was a regular artist in Bhopal Akaswani Kendra. She was also a professor in English for over 40 years but her passion remains Music and has benefited many aspiring young music students.

 Smt. Sajani Ghosal                         

Smt. Sajani Ghosal is an M.A. (Bengali) from Ranchi University and B. Ed from Burdhwan University. She learnt music and was awarded with Gitabharati in the year 1974. She has been teaching music since 1972 at Pragyabharati, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. She is also with Surajhankar as a teacher since its foundation in 1994.

 Smt. Uma Roy                                 

Mrs Uma Roy is a M.A. in Sanskrit from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. She has also done Sangeet Visharad in Indian Classical music from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, India in 1972. She has perfomed in a number of concerts and currently a Voice-training teacher at Surajhankar School of Rabindra Sangeet, Pune since 1994. She ensures that the students of Surajhankar learns the basics of music as a strong foundation for their Rabindra-sangeet lessons.

 Smt. Madhumita Ghosh                  

Madhumita Ghosh is an honours graduate from Kolkata University, 1st Class 1st in M.A.Education from University of Pune and recipient of Best Allrounder Student Medal in B.Ed. from Calcutta University. She has obtained Diploma In Tagore’s Songs from a recognized Institute of Tagore Songs in Kolkata. She is also a holder of “Sangeet Tirtha” certificate for classical music. She has performed in programmes (Vocal, Musical Soiree, Drama, etc.) broadcast by Doordarshan & All India Radio, Kolkata. Founder Director of “Madhu Manjari”, she regularly organises & directs various cultural programmes on behalf of various schools & the Bengali Association in Pune.

 Smt. Amita Chatterjee                     

Mrs Amita Chatterjee is a “Sangeet Visharad” from Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapeeth, Lucknow and also “Gitabharati” from Gitabitan of Kolkata. Earlier, she has also done M.Sc from Lucknow University. She is teaching (voice training) in Surajhankar since 2008.

 Smt. Debarati Basu                        

Debarati Basu has competed her studies in Kolkata and has graduated with Honors in History from Loreto College,Kolkata. He is also a graduate in German Language from Max Mueller Bhavan, Pune. As a student of Surajhankar Pune she stood First in the Geetabharati exam of Gitabitan, Kolkata in the year 2001. Debarati is currently a Faculty member of Surajhankar

Smt. Sripurna Mitra                                 

Sripurna Mitra has been associated with Surajhankar as a faculty since 2013, teaching Notation and Rabindrasangeet. She had a very early association with Gitabitan, Kolkata during her childhood years and had a brief opportunity to learn from Smt. Suchitra Mitra. During later years, she joined Surajhankar and fulfilled her long cherished dream of completing ‘Gitabharati’, securing highest marks in Rabindrasangeet and Notation. A B.E. from Bengal Engineering College, Shibpur, she is an IT professional and is currently associated with Veritas Technologies.

 Smt.Suparna Mitra                         

Born and brought up in Kolkata, Suparna Mitra started learning music at an early age of 5 years. She has been a student of Banichakra and Gitabitan music school. She completed her graduation from Lady Brabourne College, Kolkata with Geography (Hons) and B.Ed. from Hastings House, Kolkata. Suparna joined Surajhankar as a student in 2013 and earned the Gitabharati degree in 2017 with a first class. Currently, she is learning classical music under the able guidance of Sri Dhananjay Marathe. Since February 2019, she has joined as faculty with Surajhankar.
